Toulouse Rugby History
Since the team’s formation in 1907, they’ve officially been known as Stade Toulousain. However, they’re known more commonly by rugby fans around the world as Toulouse Rugby, or simply Toulouse. To say the side have been successful since their birth would be an understatement. They reached the final of the French Championship (now the Top 14) in 1909 and won the competition for the first time in 1912. They then followed this with five championship titles in the 1920s.
The inter-war years were slightly quieter for the Toulouse Rugby team. However, the team was still successful. Between 1945 and 1990, the team won the French Championship four times and finished as the runners-up on two occasions. They also won the World Club Championship twice, the Challenge Yves du Manoir once and the French Cup three times.
