It May Be Time For Stitches

After cleansing and exploring the wound, your MedExpress medical team may numb the area and apply stitches by carefully threading sutures from one end of the wound to the other. If appropriate, MedExpress may also use Dermabond – a tissue adhesive – to fuse the edges of the wound together.

Diagnosing the Flu

The most common ones that are used are "rapid influenza diagnostics tests," which can provide results within about 15 minutes. For the test, the inside of your nose or the back of your throat will be swabbed to obtain a sample that will then be tested on site at MedExpress.

Your urgent care physician will take note of your symptoms and run tests if necessary to provide you with a diagnosis. Generally speaking, if your chest pain is new, has changed (i.e., goes away and comes back), or is accompanied by other worrisome symptoms, it's best to go straight to the emergency room.

If your chest discomfort is new or accompanied by other concerning symptoms, you should immediately go to the emergency department. If you have been treated for chest discomfort in the past but do not have some of the more significant symptoms listed, you might find that urgent care facilities can help.

When to go to the ER for cut? ›

Visit your pediatrician's office or the ER if the cut is greater than 1 mm deep and 1 cm long. Lacerations such as this may require stitches or glue. If the cut does not stop bleeding after you have applied pressure for 10-15 minutes, seek emergency care to make sure the bleeding is not indicative of a larger issue.

MedExpress offers oral metronidazole tablets, metronidazole gel and clindamycin cream to treat bacterial vaginosis. These are all antibiotic treatments. Gels and creams are applied internally with an applicator for up to 7 days.

For dental pain and tooth aches, our providers can evaluate you and may prescribe antibiotics, if needed. From there, we can refer you to a dentist, as they are the best professionals to consult for any dental needs. Does MedExpress conduct eye examinations?
