I like that Zombie takes the concept and continues it without rehashing too much, or trading too much off the prior films. That being said, this one is not great as a stand alone project. It works as the viewers desire to see a conclusion to the Firefly trilogy. The filmmaking is still strong. The Direction, editing, and Cinematography are still of the quality you expect from Rob Zombie- who has established himself as an adept filmmaker. The images are graphic and this is still day and gross. It has morphed from a horror film to an outlaw film and the danger is relating too much to the stars, who are the worst kind of evil.
